Being a breeder of French Bulldogs is an absolute luxury. At Wheat Kings Kennels, we know how important a healthy and balanced diet is for dogs, especially for growing puppies.
We want to ensure that when we place a wrinkly faced little puppy into a new home, he or she arrives in the most healthy state possible, and has been given all the vitamins and minerals it needs to be on the road to developing into a healthy strong bulldog.
Similar to a child, a big part of raising a healthy puppy is ensuring they get the essential nutrients required to grow healthy and strong.
French Bulldog puppies need the correct balance of minerals, and calcium plays many roles in the body of a puppy. Not only does calcium help build strong bones, it also helps heart function by supporting the contractions in the heart muscle, supports nerve transmission, muscle building and signaling, and helps with hormone secretion.
So any supplement given to a puppy needs to include the right level of calcium and we recommend it is given until he is 16-18 months of age when the growth plates are closing. Even adult dogs still need calcium to maintain strong teeth and bones.

And while I am here, let’s dispel one of the largest myths about Frenchies.
This breed needs a lot of exercise to be healthy. The internet tends to hint that a French bulldog is a fragile and lazy dog and sometimes even referred to as an apartment dog. This is not a Wheat Kings Kennel supported belief, nor an accurate view of how healthy pup should behave. Our puppies are robust, they leap from furniture or off retaining walls. They play HARD. They crash into each other joyously.
So if you are considering getting a Frenchie, remember your dog supplements, and get ready to play!
